To end the redheadday series of 2012, here are the redhead twins again. Again? Yes, remember them from 2010? They attended again. Actually, I’m pretty certain I have seen them in other years too; I probably even have slides from these other years, but it would seem that these didn’t make it to this site.
Anyway. Redheadday.
Coming up next: a small surprise. And after that… I don’t know yet. Last week, I attended the first get-together of the course “photographing thematically”. Hopefully there will be something to show from that (in due time) over here.
But, as I said, coming up first is a small surprise.

Well, I think you closed off your 2012 RedHead Day photos with a good one… I like the colors and tones of the lovely young ladies… and I like how, I am sure, they are posing for someone else, but that they are both looking down instead.
As for, my non-mattering personal thoughts of your future shooting your annual RHD series… Maybe be more aggressive, and rather than just being some guy along the peripheral, just grabbing casual shots from afar, you maybe in the future engage them, and offer to shoot a quick portrait of them, to commemorate the day for them, or whatever. Not for pay, mind you… just offer to grab shots of them, that shows, how amongst a sea of fellow redheads, they are unique, and show of their character, personality… I don’t know.
Just, since you have done this for a couple years now, you must like it, and enjoy going there and shooting at them, maybe to just make it, and your shots, worth more your while, to just become more involved and interactive with them in the future, as opposed to a guy on the sidelines… I don’t know 🙂
Anyway, look forward to your surprise! And samples from that course you’re taking, sound intriguing too, and would look forward to seeing your results from that!
Jeff, how good to hear (read) from you. I was just thinking that the lack of commenting lately was due to the most fanatic commenter being busy with exciting big changes. That means you, yes. Glad you’re still visiting my corner of the web. I hope this stimulates others to comment as well. 😉
Of course you are right about diving in instead of standing on the sideline. Then again, there’s so many photographers doing that, there and then. What can I offer that others can’t? I can offer a longer turn-around time because I work analog… Well, it might be a unique selling point, but not one that is going to help me a lot, I reckon.
Then there’s the “being there” thing versus me being quiet, prudent, certainly not outspoken. It’s just not my nature to jump in front of people to ask them whether they want to have their picture taken. Again, other photographers do, which doesn’t make it any easier.
So, yes, I think you have a good proposal, but there’s a barrier for implementation. Fortunately, there’s still time to think about it. About ten months, actually.
Curious and anxious to see when (and how!) you and your website will be back, someday soon I hope.
Yeah, I, for some reason, didn’t think of that, even though you have mentioned it years past – that you’re not the only photographer there, and that there are most likely scores of other photogs, doing exactly as I suggested! Sorry.

As to the last line of your comment, thank you for your curiosity… Honestly, even though the ball has already started rolling (I have already given notice of vacating my premises at the end of the month… a week from tomorrow, is when I insanely plan to leave my day job) – I still don't have the slightest bloody clue as to what the living fudge I am going to do and/or go! It changes daily, heck not even that long! In the morning, I may wake up, set on what it is I am going to do… come the afternoon, I am leaning towards something completely different! gotta love me.
It'll certainly be interesting. Hopefully, I can get the site back up by then (it, in itself, is nothing to hold one's breath for, I am really just updating it to a new theme is all… it's layout, format, etc.)… but, since it'll be a portal to the insanity that will be my life come November 1st, must have it all looking nice by then for that! 🙂
